Meet the Team

We are Emily Hodge, Randi May and Ryan McCoy: three journalists who love Formula 1 racing, sports in general and sharing our thoughts with you. 

We're glad you're here!

I'm Randi! I'm 26 and I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. I'm a storyteller at heart, so I'll start off by telling you why I write about Formula One. My mother was a big fan of motorsport, particularly NASCAR... and ever since her passing, I've been pushing forward in this life just like any driver would in a race. 

Come 2021, I met Emily! We started to become friends and when she introduced me to Formula One, we only grew closer faster. It became a hobby of ours to watch and talk about F1 and F1 news, considering both of our journalistic knowledge and paths, and now she's one of my best friends. It eventually became natural for us to think about sharing with an audience... and thus, the birth of this blog-- Formula Frenzy.

It means so much to me to share these words with you, so please enjoy. 

Besides watching and writing about F1 in my free time, I like to do yoga, run, swim, hike and honestly exercise any way I can. I also sing often and I'm learning to play some music. Currently... the guitar and piano. I also love to keep up with my favorite One Direction boys.... (all of them). :')♡  

I'm Ryan, born in southern California and currently living in Reno, Nevada. Growing up and to this day, I've had a passion for sports.

Whether that be watching, playing, writing about, or learning, it's a huge part of who I am. While I only just got interested in F1 this year, I can tell you the sport is far more than just what you see on the track each Sunday. The drivers, teams, cars, circuits and even the offseason all hold stories with deep roots worth exploring and sharing. 

Whether you're a super fan or have never seen a race before, the stories that can be shared are limitless. Some of my interests when it comes to writing here on the blog focus primarily on the history and statistics of the sport, including previews of tracks and their specific DRS zones or the teams' driver histories. If there's history that can be found, I'm here to share it. I still have a lot to learn about this unique sport but I hope you enjoy the work that my friends and I produce when we can. -Ryan

    I’m Emily! I am 27 years old and live in Reno, NV. I was born in Las Vegas and moved to Reno in 2015. I’ve never been one to follow sports religiously except swimming because I used to be a competitive swimmer, but during the 2022 F1 season my friend suggested I watch Drive to Survive on Netflix. I watched one episode and wasn’t interested nor impressed. After watching that first episode however, Formula 1 related videos started popping up on my TikTok and that's what got me hooked. I genuinely love how intricate, precise and downright entertaining F1 is to watch and read about. The history of the sport is also vast and fun to learn about as well. I’ll admit, while F1 is definitely entertaining on track, I also find what happens off track very entertaining especially when Silly Season comes around. I feel I’ve learned so much in the year I’ve been a fan but I also have so much more to learn and that's why we started Formula Frenzy.

    The Imola Circuit... What we might see next year

    After a two-week break, the F1 season was set to continue with a triple-header of back-to-back races. Drivers would have raced the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari in the northern Italian city of Imola, but c urrently, the region is seeing devastating weather and as such, the race was officially postponed by Formula 1.  Unlike the temporary circuit we saw in Miami earlier this month, the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari has been a part of F1 since 1980. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because the circuit is named after Ferrari’s late founder Enzo Ferrari. With a track named after the founder of Ferrari, you’d think that the Ferrari team would have some sort of edge, but Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has left his mark in Italy.     Actor Ryan Reynolds and investor group puts nearly $220,000 stock in Alpine F1 Team

    Actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have broadened the sports fields they're investing in.. and this time, it'll be lookin' more like a race track.  The actors with Renault investor group have  acquired a 24% stake in the Alpine F1 team, which is currently represented on the grid by Frenchmen Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon.  This places the team's value, they say, at approximately €900m. Alpine's season didn't start out too hot but the driver's are working their way up in points... and this new stack of money may help the team hop on some improvement for later on in this campaign and in future years.  BWT Alpine F1 Team F1 gathered the following quote from Alpine's CEO L aurent Rossi: “This association is an important step to enhance our performance at all levels. First, Otro Capital, RedBird Capital Partners and Maximum Effort Investments, as international players with strong track record in the sports industry, will bring their recognised expertise

    Alpha Tauri replaces de Vries with Ricciardo on loan

    This replacement follows news of the team’s principal leaving at the end of the season. What will the future of Alpha Tauri look like?   Right around the time of Silverstone, rumors started to circuit that Alpha Tauri would be replacing Nyck de Vries with a well known man in the sport— Daniel Ricciardo.  Two days after that race, Alpha Tauri themselves confirmed it with a short welcome to Ricciardo on social media.  Many fans and drivers alike are happy to see this honey badger and his big smile back on the grid.  Nyck de Vries posted a statement about the news on Instagram saying he’s grateful for the opportunities he’s had in Formula One. He points to hope for a journey back onto the grid at some point to live out his dream and also says he’s taking a break from social media during this time.
