Drivers Enjoying Their Summer Break

As you may know, it's summer break in the 2023 Formula One season, and while we are sad, we're happy to see our drivers enjoying their well-deserved vacations. 

If you've been active on Instagram since our last race in Belgium, you may have seen how active the grid boys have been. 

George Russell has been recharging his batteries with well-earned vacation time with his family including his girlfriend Carmen Montero Mundt. The Mercedes driver says he's not too experienced with water sports, but gave it a try with some jet-skiing and flyboarding.

Our other Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton, and Ferrari's Carlos Sainz have also been enjoying the water on their break.

World champion Max Verstappen was seen enjoying his summer break with his partner Kelly Piquet... 

posing in front of a wall with a quote I personally think represents Max's journey to become the skilled driver he is today. 

Red Bull Racing's Checo Perez also took to Instagram, but we're less focused on this aestival post and more interested in his announcement of a 

Checo also appeared with team principal Christian Horner in a fun 8 minute feature video to hype up RBR fans for the Las Vegas Grand Prix this November.

You can see the RB 19 hanging off a hotel roof, racing through the Bellagio hotel and along Las Vegas Boulevard, which is where everyone will be racing in just a few months. You'll also see Horner and Checo riding in a hotel elevator with some PinkBox donuts...

but what I really loved is his new piano piece titled MON23 (1:3), likely in response to how his home race went this year.

Turning to the McLaren boys, Lando Norris has been seen hanging out with DJ Martin Garrix this week and taking video for his shows! Rookie Oscar Piastri is liking enjoying his achievements so far in the season, which you will be able to read more about here soon... and he's been seen recharging with his girlfriend.

After a two-week break, the F1 season was set to continue with a triple-header of back-to-back races. Drivers would have raced the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari in the northern Italian city of Imola, but c urrently, the region is seeing devastating weather and as such, the race was officially postponed by Formula 1.  Unlike the temporary circuit we saw in Miami earlier this month, the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari has been a part of F1 since 1980. Actor Ryan Reynolds and investor group puts nearly $220,000 stock in Alpine F1 Team

Actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have broadened the sports fields they're investing in.. and this time, it'll be lookin' more like a race track.  The actors with Renault investor group have  acquired a 24% stake in the Alpine F1 team, which is currently represented on the grid by Frenchmen Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon.  This places the team's value, they say, at approximately €900m. Alpine's season didn't start out too hot but the driver's are working their way up in points... and this new stack of money may help the team hop on some improvement for later on in this campaign and in future years.  BWT Alpine F1 Team F1 gathered the following quote from Alpine's CEO L aurent Rossi: “This association is an important step to enhance our performance at all levels. Alpha Tauri replaces de Vries with Ricciardo on loan

This replacement follows news of the team’s principal leaving at the end of the season. What will the future of Alpha Tauri look like?   Right around the time of Silverstone, rumors started to circuit that Alpha Tauri would be replacing Nyck de Vries with a well known man in the sport— Daniel Ricciardo.  Two days after that race, Alpha Tauri themselves confirmed it with a short welcome to Ricciardo on social media.  Many fans and drivers alike are happy to see this honey badger and his big smile back on the grid.  Nyck de Vries posted a statement about the news on Instagram saying he’s grateful for the opportunities he’s had in Formula One. He points to hope for a journey back onto the grid at some point to live out his dream and also says he’s taking a break from social media during this time.
