Emilia Romagna GP postponed on weather concerns, could be on the 2024 calendar

As severe weather devastates parts of drought-stricken northern Italy, Formula 1 has decided not to proceed with this weekend's Emilia Romagna GP.

It's possible the drivers won't race in Imola at all this season. Organizers say they will look into all potential options, but with the already hectic schedule, it's expected by many that it just won't happen this year.

The GP promoter mentioned that if this ends up being a full cancellation, it will likely lead to an additional year contract for the race and track.

On Monday, the Emilia Romagna region was placed under red alert and by Tuesday, F1 personnel were being asked to leave the track. (Sky Sports)

At the time of this writing, at least eight people have died as a result of flooding in the region and thousands of people continue to be evacuated from their homes.
